Visits around the campsite between Saumur and Angers
Heritage, nature and vineyards on your holiday programme
Camping l’Isle Verte is situated on the banks of the Loire, at the entrance to the delightful village of Montsoreau. Montsoreau is listed as one of the most beautiful villages in France, with its white tufa stone houses and magnificent château reflected in the waters of the Loire. The château is now home to a museum of contemporary art, which is sure to delight art lovers. In Montsoreau and neighbouring Candes, you’ll discover architectural treasures such as the church of Saint-Martin and numerous troglodyte dwellings dug into the hillsides. Above Montsoreau, and as far as Saumur, you’ll pass through beautiful vineyards where the grapes for Saumur wine are grown. These undulating landscapes make for a very pleasant setting for a bike ride. You can also choose to reach Saumur by taking the Loire à Vélo cycle route, which runs alongside the river. Between Saumur and Montsoreau, you’ll discover wine estates where you can stop for a tasting or to visit the troglodytic cellars where the wine is aged. In Saumur, you won’t want to miss the château overlooking the Loire and the old town of Saumur. There are several museums to visit in Saumur, including the armoured car museum. But Saumur is above all famous for its riding school, the famous Cadre Noir. Don’t miss a show there.

A campsite among the vines
The village of Montsoreau nestles between the Loire and the vineyards. From the campsite, dozens of estates open their doors for you to taste the wines of Anjou and Saumur. We’ve selected 14 of them for you, which you’ll find in our Loire wine passport. We’ll give you this booklet on your arrival, where you can write down your tasting notes and remember which wines are your favourites. On foot from the campsite, you can taste wines in the troglodytic cellar of Domaine de la Péruche, in the cellar of Domaine de Nerleux or take a trip on Denis Rétiveau’s boat, where you can taste his wines and discover the confluence of the Loire and Vienne rivers. It’s sure to be a magical experience.

The Valley of the Kings and its castles
Discover the unique heritage of the Loire Valley and Anjou
The Loire Valley has a unique heritage. Its landscapes are dotted with châteaux, each more beautiful than the last. A stone’s throw from the campsite is the Château de Montsoreau, whose façade is reflected in the waters of the Loire. During your stay at our campsite in Montsoreau, be sure to visit the Château de Saumur, which dominates the town, or the surprising Château de Brézé, built on a network of troglodytic galleries. In addition to the châteaux, our region is dotted with charming villages such as Montsoreau and Candes Saint Martin. Finally, not far from the campsite, the sumptuous Fontevraud Abbey awaits you, where Richard the Lionheart is buried.
